Every day, waterborne diseases cause some 6,000 deaths, 90 percent of them among children under five. That is over 2 million people a year and these deaths can be attributed to “water, sanitation, and hygiene.”
And on another Africa note: today (4/25) is Malaria Awareness Day!
Malaria causes at least 300 million cases of acute illness annually, and over 1 million people die from malaria every year. About 90% of this annual global rate of death from malaria occurs in Africa.
We have spent over $500 billion on this war in Iraq when there are innocents in Africa that just need clean water and bed nets to live. Seriously, what the hell are we doing with our resources?
as impressive as both of those things are, this impresses me even more than all of that…
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
